The Charleston Atelier (“we,” “us,” or “our”), the physician-led practice of Kendall Phelps-Polirer, MD, at 83 Cannon Street, Charleston, SC 29403, respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have — including how our text-message (SMS) program works.
Information we collect
We collect information you provide directly to us, such as your name, mobile phone number, email address, and the answers you give in our protocol assessment, intake, and booking forms. We also collect limited technical information (such as pages visited) through standard website analytics.
How we use your information
- To respond to your inquiry and to schedule, confirm, or remind you of appointments;
- To send you the protocol direction and next steps you requested;
- To send care-related communications and occasional practice updates you have consented to receive;
- To operate, secure, and improve our website and services;
- To comply with our legal and regulatory obligations.
SMS / text messaging program
No mobile information or SMS opt-in data will be sold, rented, or shared with any third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Text-message originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third party for any purpose other than delivering the messages you have requested (for example, our messaging provider transmitting a message to you at our direction).
How you opt in (consent)
You give express consent to receive text messages from The Charleston Atelier when you check the SMS consent box and submit your mobile number through our website — including our protocol assessment at thecharlestonatelier.com/protocol-quiz and our intake and booking forms — or when you provide your number and consent to our staff in person or by phone. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of purchasing any product or service.
Types of messages
After you opt in, you may receive messages such as appointment reminders and confirmations, the protocol results and next steps you requested, care-related follow-ups, and occasional practice updates.
Message frequency, rates, help & opt-out

- Message and data rates may apply, according to your mobile carrier plan.
- Reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe. You will receive a confirmation and no further messages.

- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with service providers who perform functions on our behalf (such as scheduling, email delivery, and, for text messages, our SMS provider) solely to deliver the services you request, and who are contractually obligated to protect your information. As stated above, mobile opt-in information is never shared with third parties for marketing. We may disclose information when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our patients, staff, or others.
Protected health information
Any protected health information you share in the course of clinical care is handled in accordance with applicable law, including HIPAA where it applies, and the separate Notice of Privacy Practices provided as part of your care.
Data security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices
You may opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP, unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in those emails, and request access to or deletion of your information by contacting us. Opting out of text messages will not affect messages necessary for care you are actively receiving.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above reflects the most recent revision.
