Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 4, 2026
The Charleston Atelier (“we,” “us,” or “our”), the physician-led practice of Kendall Phelps-Polirer, MD, at 83 Cannon Street, Charleston, SC 29403, respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have ; including how our text-message (SMS) program works.
Information we collect
We collect information you provide directly to us, such as your name, mobile phone number, email address, and the answers you give in our protocol assessment, intake, and booking forms. We also collect limited technical information (such as pages visited) through standard website analytics.
Cookies, analytics & tracking technologies
We use Google Analytics to measure website visits, pages viewed, campaign referrals, and interactions such as contact-link clicks and progress through our assessment. Google Analytics may use cookies and similar technologies. Our site enables Google Signals and advertising-personalization signals on selected general practice pages (the homepage, About, physician biography, Visit, journal index, and Memberships). These advertising signals are disabled by our site configuration on other pages, including treatment pages and the protocol assessment. Our assessment progress events do not include your answers, protocol result, name, email, or phone number.
Our QR-code and NFC landing pages also use first-party cookies named ca_attr and ca_attr_last, with a 120-day expiration, to remember the first and most recent campaign that brought you to the site. Browser session storage retains campaign information and helps avoid counting the same scan twice during a visit. These records can include campaign identifiers, landing page, referral URL, and visit time; campaign information may accompany an inquiry you submit. We also record scan and lead counts to understand which placements are used.
You can block or delete cookies and clear site storage in your browser settings. This may limit campaign attribution and some website functionality. You can also manage advertising personalization through your Google account settings. Cookie and tracking choices are separate from SMS consent; accepting cookies or visiting the site does not opt you into text messages.
How we use your information
- To respond to your inquiry and to schedule, confirm, or remind you of appointments;
- To send you the protocol direction and next steps you requested;
- To send care-related communications and occasional practice updates you have consented to receive;
- To operate, secure, and improve our website and services;
- To comply with our legal and regulatory obligations.
SMS / text messaging program
No mobile information or SMS opt-in data will be sold, rented, or shared with any third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Text-message originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third party for any purpose other than delivering the messages you have requested (for example, our messaging provider transmitting a message to you at our direction).
How you opt in (consent)
Our contact and SMS preferences form and other website forms offer two separate, unchecked, optional text-message consent boxes: one for appointment scheduling, appointment reminders, and follow-up on your inquiry; and one for marketing messages about special offers, discounts, and practice updates. You may choose either, both, or neither and still submit the form. Entering a mobile number alone does not grant SMS consent. We record your selections, disclosure text, and submission time. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of purchasing any product or service.
Types of messages
Based on your separate choices, non-marketing messages cover appointment scheduling, appointment reminders, and follow-up on your inquiry. Marketing messages cover special offers, discounts, and practice updates. We send each category only when you have opted into that category.
Message frequency, rates, help & opt-out
- Message frequency varies.
- Message and data rates may apply, according to your mobile carrier plan.
- Reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe. You will receive a confirmation and no further messages.
- Reply HELP for help, or contact us at (843) 377-3713 or hello@thecharlestonatelier.com.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with service providers who perform functions on our behalf (such as scheduling, email delivery, and, for text messages, our SMS provider) solely to deliver the services you request, and who are contractually obligated to protect your information. As stated above, mobile opt-in information is never shared with third parties for marketing. We may disclose information when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our patients, staff, or others.
Protected health information
Any protected health information you share in the course of clinical care is handled in accordance with applicable law, including HIPAA where it applies, and the separate Notice of Privacy Practices provided as part of your care.
Data security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices
You may opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP, unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in those emails, and request access to or deletion of your information by contacting us. After you reply STOP, we send only an opt-out confirmation and stop further text messages. Please contact the practice by phone or email if you need assistance with ongoing care.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above reflects the most recent revision.
