BOTOX

Botox beyond the face

Kendall Phelps-Polirer, MD, founder of The Charleston Atelier

More than smoothing lines

Neuromodulators like Botox and Xeomin relax overactive muscles and quiet the signals that drive sweating. That makes them useful well beyond forehead lines: for a clenched jaw, heavy underarm sweating, chronic migraine and tight shoulders.

Some of these uses are FDA-approved for specific products, and others are off-label. Dr. Kendall explains which applies to you, which product she recommends and why, before anything is injected.

$12.50 a unit, or $10 a unit for Ritual members, who also get $50 off every toxin treatment. Units vary by area and are agreed before treatment.

Is this for you?

If you know Botox only as a wrinkle treatment, this is the other half of what it does: relaxing muscles that won't let go, and quieting overactive sweat glands.

  • A jaw that clenches or aches
  • Sweating that soaks through your clothes
  • Chronic migraine
  • Neck and shoulders that never relax
